In-Store Activities for Kids in the CSRA

In-Store Activities for Kids in the CSRA
Looking for something different to do? You can get the kids out of the house and entertain them without breaking out your wallet. There are stores around town that offer kid activities/classes for free or at a low cost. Some places will even entertain your kids while you shop. Here is a list of some local places that provide some great fun!
Home Depot
Home Depot offers monthly free workshops every first Saturday of the month. A parent must be present. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
Micheals
Micheal’s offers in-store craft classes, a kids craft club and a monthly “make and take” event. Micheal’s Kids Club meets on Saturdays at 10:00 AM. The craft club is $2 per visit and this covers all of the supplies. (Please check calendar to confirm the class.) You can drop them off while you shop. Makebreak events are free to the public and happen once a month.
Barnes and Noble
The Book Tavern
This is a CSRA Kids reader favorite! Mr. Kenny offers a monthly storytime on the 4th Saturday at 10:30 AM. The storytime usually has a story, music, craft and a snack from New Moon Cafe.
Joann Fabric
Joann Fabric offers in-store classes for both kids and adults. The classes are $35 on average. The classes range from sewing, food decoration and more.
Kroger
Kroger offers a Saturday cooking class called Kroger Chef Junior. Kids will be able to make a tasty treat during this 20-minute workshop. Activities can range from cupcake decorating to making a fruit pizza. Each kid will receive a chef hat, apron, recipe card and box, cooking utensil and patch. The recommended ages are 4 to 10, but all are welcome. The class is offered in Augusta and Grovetown.
Lowes
Lowe’s offers a DIY Kids Workshop on select dates. The projects vary from month to month. The classes are held on Saturday.
