Does your kid love science, or do you dislike teaching science? What can you do? You can supplement your science curriculum with local programs, or just use some of these as your science altogether. Luckily, we live in an area full of programs tailored for homeschool students in the Science fields. Here are some local places that are sure to peak your child’s scientific side.

Fort STEM – Augusta, GA

Co-op Style Homeschool Steam Classes

Fort STEM offers Homeschool classes aged 5 – 12. 

Classes include STEM, Chemistry, Math Facts, Geometry, Earth Science, and Pre-Algebra.

Ruth Patrick Science Education Center – Aiken, SC

Planetarium and Observatory

The Science Center offers Homeschool Mondays every semester. 

Each student will participate in 2 one-hour-long programs focusing on science or mathematics. Ages 5 and Up. 1 PM.

Reed Creek Nature Park and Interpretive Center – Martinez, GA

Wetland Nature Park with Educational Programs

Reed Creek is offering an outdoor-based educational program for homeschoolers and after-schoolers for ages 5-11 years. 

They also provide many weekly classes on different topics like identifying reptiles and insects. They offer Science Fridays and many more classes. Programs tailored to different ages including toddlers. 706-210-4027

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park – Augusta, GA

Swamp and Water Science Center

School-aged children have the opportunity to take classes – ages K-12th. The program is broken down into two separate semesters, consisting of five sessions each. Sign up for the monthly series that works best, meeting either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. All sessions run from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and tend to be the 2nd week of the month, but can vary.

This fall, we start with a look at water habitat values and functions and continue with studies on wetland and stream ecosystems. Topics cover habitat structure, adaptions, chemistry, populations, food webs, and much more. Join us for an aquatic fun fall!

These classes fill up fast at only $50 per semester and you must bring a lunch. This year they have a class for preschoolers at only $30 per semester.

Mistletoe State Park – Clarks Hill Lake, GA

Lake, Hiking Trails, and Cabins

This park offers classes, bird watching, hiking groups, crafts, and homeschool activities on certain days. The next homeschool day is not scheduled but you can contact them to find out. The classes will supplement your science lessons.

Brown Girls Code – Augusta, GA

Coding and Computer Science Classes for Girls

Brown Girls Code meets bi-monthly and teaches skills in coding, cybersecurity, robotics, engineering, and more. They also host a coder dojo for all kids that are interested in coding. You will learn how to build websites, apps, programs, and games.

Code Ninja – Evans, GA

STEM – Coding – Robotics

Code Ninja offers a variety of classes for ages 7-14. They can learn how to code games like Roblox and Minecraft. They offer robotics with Legos and much more!

STEM Robotics Team For CSRA High School Students

M’Aiken Magic Robotics Team offers an opportunity for high school students to learn how to build and code robots. They compete several times throughout the year.
