Does your kid love science, or do you dislike teaching science? What can you do? You can supplement your science curriculum with local programs, or just use some of these as your science altogether. Luckily, we live in an area full of programs tailored for homeschool students in the Science fields. Here are some local places that are sure to peak your child’s scientific side.

Fort STEM offers Homeschool classes aged 5 – 12.
Classes include STEM, robotics, coding, detective science, and more!
Ruth Patrick Science Education Center – Aiken, SC
Planetarium and Observatory
The RPSEC series of monthly programs for homeschool students is held on select Monday afternoons from January to May. Each student will participate in 2 one-hour-long programs focusing on science, technology, or mathematics.

Reed Creek Nature Park and Interpretive Center – Martinez, GA
Wetland Nature Park with Educational Programs
Reed Creek is offering an outdoor-based educational program for homeschoolers and after-schoolers for ages 5-11 years. They also have a class called Lil Waders for toddlers.

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park – Augusta, GA
Swamp and Water Science Center
Ages K – 12.
The program is broken down into two separate semesters, each consisting of five sessions with a different topic every month. Sign up for the monthly series that works best, meeting either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. All sessions run from 10:00am to 12:00pm and tend to be the 2nd week of the month, but can vary.
It is $50 per student per semester. Registration for fall and spring semesters are separate. If you want to study with us for both semesters, be sure to register for the second semester when it opens. Register early as each group will be filled on a first-come first-served basis and fill fast.

Mistletoe State Park – Clarks Hill Lake, GA
Lake, Hiking Trails, and Cabins
This park offers classes, bird watching, hiking groups, crafts, and homeschool activities on certain days. The next homeschool day is not scheduled but you can contact them to find out. The classes will supplement your science lessons.
Brown Girls Code – Augusta, GA
Coding and Computer Science Classes for Girls
Brown Girls Code meets bi-monthly and teaches skills in coding, cybersecurity, robotics, engineering, and more. They also host a coder dojo for all kids that are interested in coding. You will learn how to build websites, apps, programs, and games.
Code Ninja – Evans, GA
STEM – Coding – Robotics
Code Ninja offers a variety of classes for ages 7-14. They can learn how to code games like Roblox and Minecraft. They offer robotics with Legos and much more!
M’Aiken Magic Robotics Team – Aiken, SC
STEM Robotics Team For CSRA High School Students
M’Aiken Magic Robotics Team offers an opportunity for high school students to learn how to build and code robots. They compete several times throughout the year.
