Homeschool Science Programs in the CSRA
Does your kid love science, or do you dislike teaching science? What can you do? You can supplement your science curriculum with local programs, or just use some of these as your science altogether. Luckily, we live in an area full of programs tailored for homeschool students in the Science fields. Here are some local places that are sure to peak your child’s scientific side.
Science Homeschool Programs in the CSRA
Ruth Patrick Science Education Center – Aiken, SC
Planetarium and Observatory
The Science Center offers Homeschool Mondays every semester. Even though they are closed this fall, they continue like normal in Spring 2019. Registration will open September 2018.
Each student will participate in 2 one hour-long programs focusing on science or mathematics. Ages 5 and Up. 1 PM.
Reed Creek Nature Park and Interpretive Center – Martinez, GA
Wetland Nature Park with Educational Programs
While not specifically for homeschoolers, they provide many weekly classes on different topics like identifying reptiles and insects. They offer Science Fridays and many more classes. Programs tailored to differing ages including toddlers. 706-210-4027
Phinizy Swamp Nature Park – Augusta, GA
Swamp and Water Science Center
School-aged children have the opportunity to take classes with two different topics per semester. This year the fall session includes 5 classes on Aquatic Ecosystems and the spring session will teach about Spring Botanicals. These classes fill up fast at only $40 per semester and you must bring a lunch. This year they have added a class for preschoolers at only $20 per semester.

Mistletoe State Park – Clarks Hill Lake, GA
Lake, Hiking Trails, and Cabins
This park offers classes, bird watching, hiking groups, crafts and homeschool activities on certain days. The next homeschool day is not scheduled but you can contact them to find out. The classes will supplement your science lessons.
Bricks 4 Kidz – Evans, GA & Aiken, SC
Lego® Learning/Play Center
At Bricks 4 Kidz you can enroll your kiddo in an afterschool program that combines STEM with Lego® play, or many of their other programs. Per their website, building with Legos ® “encourages critical thinking, creativity, organizational skills, problem-solving, and teamwork”. Some of their more interesting programs include Artificial Bricktelligence (Robotics) and Stop-Motion Movie Making.
The Clubhouse – Augusta, GA
Innovation and Collaboration Hub for Entrepreneurs and Creatives
This place offers classes for all your techy kids. Classes here range from 3D printing to Raspberry Py and even coding. They also offer classes on gardening sponsored by Augusta Locally Grown. They have yearly robot/drone classes that your child is sure to enjoy.
