Brookfield Park – Mom Review

If you are looking for a local park that is hardly ever crowded, I would recommend checking out Brookfield Park. This wooded park has a lot of amenities to offer the community.

My children always enjoy visiting this particular park because they have two different park structure areas. One structure is designed for smaller children ages 2-5 and on the other side of the park, there is larger equipment geared for older kids ages 5-12. Running back and forth between both structures gives the kids lots of exercise and gets those wiggles out. Neither of the play structures are shaded, so make sure to bring sunscreen. There are about 9 slides, a rock climbing wall, tunnels, monkey bars and 6 swings total with one of them being a double swing/multi-generational swing. My kids especially love this swing because they are able to swing on it together or with me.

At the entrance of the park is a large wooden pavilion with many picnic tables underneath. This structure is awesome for providing shade during the warm months and makes a wonderful place to enjoy a picnic. If you are looking for a place to have a birthday party or any other large gathering – you are able to reserve the pavilion by calling the Warren Road Community Center.

At the Center of the park is a large – quarter mile walking trail. Every time we visit, there are people walking, running, biking, along the trail. I often see dogs on leashes being walked on the trail and it has been a perfect spot for us to bring small bikes/scooters for the kids. The trail is flat and paved. There are also a couple park benches along the trail and a restroom/water fountain to take a break if you need to.

Towards the right of the park is a small putting green area. You can bring a putter and a golf ball to practice for next year’s master’s tournament. I personally have never seen anyone use this space, and my kids like to collect pine cones and put them in the holes. But, it really is a great idea!

In the back, center of the park is a large water feature. It shoots water into the center of the cemented area and drenches anyone who enters. My kids have always loved cooling off in the heat which is greatly appreciated. When we visited last week, the water feature was not turned on. It has been brought to my attention that the city is working on repairs, so hopefully this will be complete before summer is over!

Overall, Brookfield Park is a great place to take the kids to stretch their legs and get outside. If you haven’t visited before, I highly recommend checking it out! It is a little hidden gem that always brings smiles to my kids’ faces.
