Summer will soon be winding down and the kids will be heading back to school. CSRA Kids wants to help make getting back into the school schedule routine as easy as possible. Our Back to School Guide is designed to give you all the dates, information, and resources you need for this fall. Please note the changes due to COVID-19. We will be doing our best to keep you updated on changes.

When Do the Kids Go Back to School?

Richmond County – September 8th
Columbia County – August 3rd
Aiken County – August 17th

Richmond County School Plan

– Richmond County will have a delayed start and will go back to school on September 8th.

– Parents have an option for both in-person and online virtual learning. 

– In-person learning will be Monday-Thursday and online learning on Friday. 

– Virtual learning is Monday-Friday. 

You must enroll by July 27th if you are enrolling in virtual learning.

– Columbia County in person will start August 3rd. Online Learning will begin August 17th for elementary and August 10 for middle and high school. 

– Pre-K is in-person only. If you choose not to enroll, it will be passed to the next person on the waiting list.

– Masks are required for teachers and high school students. Elementary school students are recommended to wear masks.

– In-person learning will be Monday-Friday.  

You must enroll by July 1st for online learning. If no decision is made, you student will be automatically enrolled in traditional in-person learning.

Aiken County School Plan

– Students will return back to school on August 17th. 

– There will be a hybrid model. 50% of the students will go back to school in person two days of week and three days of online learning. Your days are selected by color. This model will run August 17 – 7 for elementary and indefinitely for middle and high school. The school anticipates 100% in-person by September 8th for elementary and depending on conditions, high school students may return full time. 

– For those not wanting in-person instruction, you can opt for the Aiken Innovate – Virtual Learning. 

– Temperatures will be taken daily. Assigned seating and face coverings when social distancing not possible.  

You must enroll by July 22 for online learning.

Tax – Free Weekend – Georgia isn’t having a tax free weekend this year. South Carolina will have tax-free weekend August 7-9.

Please note, registration is very important this year. This helps the schools determine how much PPE and technology is needed. Please do your best to register as soon as possible.

Our recommendation is to join communities online. There are several FB groups that are active and swap information consistently. 
Check out our Homeschool Support Group Guide to find local groups.

Please keep in mind most of these groups are closed. You may have to submit questions or wait to be approved. Please read their guidelines.
