If your teen is interested in watching kids for a few hours a week, there are several places around town that can equip her/him with the tools they need to provide a child a safe and fun environment. Here is a list of places that provide babysitting classes in the CSRA area.

Safe Sitter® is a national training program. This course is designed for young adults in grades 6th – 8th. The interactive/hands-on course teaches them safety skills, child-care skills, CPR, First Aid, and more. The cost is $40.00. To learn more about the Safe Sitter program visit www.safesitter.org.

The American Red Cross offers classes online for those looking for something convenient. The Babysitting Basics course is designed for teenagers 11 years and up. It teaches child safety, what to do in emergency situations, child-appropriate activities, and more. The course from start to finish, including the exam, takes about four hours. The class is $45.00.

**The Red Cross of Augusta occasionally offers in-person classes.

CYSitter Courses

CYSitter Courses at Fort Gordon

This free five-day course is offered for teenagers ages 12 – 18 years. It provides basic safety instruction, a craft, and an educational activity workshop. Children must be registered with CYSS.  Call 706-791-1305 to see when the next class will be offered.
