SouthStar Ghost Trolley

It’s the spookiest time of the year and the CSRA is gearing up for all the tricks and treats! If you love a good ghost story, Augusta is full of them! SouthStar Ghost Trolley is a great way to learn about the city’s must haunted secrets. CSRA Kids got a chance to preview this year’s tour and here are some of the highlights!! 

A Great Guide!

SouthStar Ghost Trolley is famous for their fantastic tour guides. They have awesome knowledge of the history of Augusta and they know how to tell a great story. If you have questions…Tommy has the answer!

The MCG Graverobbers

This was the best story of the whole tour. Grandison Harris was a slave turned employee from Charleston, SC. He was hired by doctors of MCG to dig up dead bodies from the Cedar Grove Cemetery. He was so good that he could take a body and you would never know the grave was disturbed. In 1989, some construction workers got the scare of a lifetime, when they discovered 400 cadavers that Harris had squirreled away under the building. Creepy!!

The Haunted Pillar

Pillar or no Pillar….the site alone gives you chills. I was ready for the Trolley to keep on rolling. I didn’t want that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!! Our guide told us tales of failed businesses, car wrecks, and injuries. Needless to say, people were ready to move on!

Cedar Grove Cemetary 

If you haven’t seen the graveyard at dusk….it is rather eerie. There was this mist hovering over it…it was something out of a scary movie. 

The tour is 90 minutes long and I would recommend it for children 10 and up. Your time is spent riding the trolley and younger children will not keep that long. This would also make a great date night. Grab a nice dinner Downtown at 6 pm and then hop on the Tour at 7 pm. There is also a later tour at 9 pm. Be sure to book ahead to ensure a spot!
