Lights of the South: A CSRA Holiday Tradition
Lights of the South: A CSRA Holiday Tradition
We are so excited about the holiday season! The decorations are up around town, you can smell the wood burning in the air and the kids are preparing their Christmas lists. It’s a familiar comfort, and it’s time to start enjoying the traditions that make the holidays special. One tradition your family will enjoy is Lights of the South.
Take a Hayride Through Over Five Millions Lights!
The highlight of Lights of the South is the Christmas light displays! You can stroll or take the hayride through the lights. They have themed areas and over five million lights. I highly recommend taking the hayride. The path may be a little long for smaller children. Also, wear some shoes you don’t mind getting dirty…the path can get muddy at times. My favorite display was the castle. It was beautiful, and we loved taking pictures at the lighted pumpkin!
Very Yummy Concessions and Warm Up By The Smores Pit
The night we went out was very cold! The smores pit allowed us to warm up and enjoy a yummy treat. The concession stand had very good offerings and my husband was thrilled to see they had hot chocolate. The pricing was fair, and it’s a good option if you don’t feel like making extra stops before you go.
Be Sure To Stop By Santa’s House!
Your kids will get a chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas. The Santa on site is great! The beard was real and he was extra jolly. Your kids can visit, but you can’t take pictures with your own camera. There is a photographer on site and you can purchase your photo. Santa will give your kid a candy cane, and my daughter loved that.
Crowds and Fast Pass Information
My family went on a weekday and there were no lines. We were able to get on the hayride quickly and see Santa as soon as we walked in. The parking wasn’t full either. Opening week and the weekends tend to be their busiest times. They do offer a fast pass for purchase. I recommend going on a weeknight…especially if you have little ones.
CSRA Kids Suggestions
- Bundle up!! Bring your hats and gloves. I also recommend a blanket for the hayride.
- They take debit cards on site.
- Wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
- I recommend fast passes on weekends, but not during the weekday.
- The stroll through the lights is long and I only recommend that for older kids.
