AUGUSTA, GA— The Augusta-Richmond County Law Library has a new home within the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System (ARCPLS). The new space is located on the second floor of the Headquarters branch library (823 Telfair Street). The law librarian is available from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, to suggest possible sources and provide bibliographic instruction.

The Law Library was developed to provide research and reference materials for the public, staff, and attorneys. In addition to general civil and criminal case sources, the library contains information for people who wish to represent themselves in domestic and probate legal matters. Anyone may come to the library to get legal forms or information on a variety of issues, including state and federal law, taxes, wills, deeds, legitimation, custody, visitation, child support, annulment, and divorce. Library staff cannot perform any services that might constitute the unauthorized practice of law (such as interpreting statutes, cases or regulations, filling out forms, or advising patrons about specific legal problems).

The Law Library maintains a directory of attorneys. This listing can be used as a tool in selecting an attorney. The Law Librarian cannot recommend a specific attorney. It will be your responsibility to contact and interview an attorney whom you want to hire. For more information on the law library call 706-821-2600.
