The CSRA is located near great cities that make great day trips! Explore Georgia and make your way to Atlanta for the day. It’s about a two-hour drive from the CSRA and totally worth the trip. Atlanta has a lot of fun attractions. You can check out museums, thrill rides, see some wildlife and tour some iconic places. We put together a great list of things to do while day tripping in Atlanta, and please feel free to share your favorite places below in the comments!

Children’s Museum of Atlanta

Children’s Museum of Atlanta is a going to be a hit with the kiddos. They have over seven exhibits that provide an interactive experience for children of any age. Kids can explore and learn in a fun way. They have a fun paint wall, a science bar where kids can do real experiments, and great areas for babies and toddlers too! Looking for sensory-friendly fun? Try their Sensory Friendly Saturdays.  They provide a modified museum experience with limited admission plus audio and lighting adjustments.

Zoo Atlanta is a perfect day trip for sure! Pack a lunch, some comfortable shoes, bathings suits and some sunscreen and get ready for a fun day. They have over 100 animal species and fun attractions. You can buy passes to ride the train and you can cool off at the splash fountain. They have shows you can enjoy and don’t forget to feed the giraffes. There is so much to do and see.

The Center for Civil and Human Rights

The Civil Rights Museum in Atlanta is a great educational tour for kids of all ages. This unique museum is an interactive experience highlighting the civil rights era and the global human rights issues of today. You will also learn more about Dr. Martin Luther King and other civil rights leaders across the world.

Lego Discovery Center

The Lego Land Discovery Center is family fun for everyone. Kids have the opportunity to build to their heart’s delight, in addition to the center’s other attractions. The center also has two rides, indoor play spaces, and a 4D theater. It is perfect for kids of all ages and it will also engage their creativity.

Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is a true treasure in Atlanta. There is so much to see and explore. The museum has several exhibits, a 4D theater, some look and touch areas and educational shows. Kids will get lost in the huge walls filled with fish, beluga whales, dolphins, sharks and much more! This is a must do for the summer!

Nothing says summer like roller coasters! Six Flags Over Georgia has thrills and fun for everyone in the family. Take on one of their massive roller coasters or get wet at Hurricane Harbor. They have rides for the little ones too. Take a break and catch a show. Be sure to be on the lookout for Bugs Bunny and friends.
