5 Places To Fly a Kite In The CSRA
Spring is in the air and it’s time to get outdoors to enjoy the sunshine. A great way to enjoy some quality time with the kiddos is to fly a kite. This simple activity is a classic and we have tons of places where the land is ample and the wind is reliable.
Gateway Park Field
This park is perfect for kite flying! The field is large and open. The kids will also love the nearby park and starting April 1st, they can also enjoy the splash pad. There is a nearby pavilion with picnic tables and clean restrooms.

Generations Park – Aiken SC
This park is perfect for kite flying! The fields are large and open. There is also a super modern park nearby. You can also bring lunch and sit at the picnic shelter.
Hammonds Ferry Soccer Complex
Hammonds Ferry Soccer Complex is a great option for space and an open canopy. They are located near the Riverview Park Activities Center. Please note, the soccer season is underway, so fields may be in use. There is a playground near the tennis courts and the splash pad will be activated on May 29th.
Diamond Lakes Open Field
The Diamond Lakes Park has a large multipurpose field near the baseball fields. There is plenty of space to run and fly your kite. There is also a playground near both ballfields. You can also go fishing at the lakes. Be sure to have a fishing license.
Evans Towne Center Park
A popular park in Evans is perfect for your kite flying plans. The park has several flat areas. Kids can run freely and it lacks a canopy that can entangle kites. There is a fenced playground nearby and starting April 1st the splash pad will be activated. There is a restroom nearby and picnic tables.

– Get a good kite! Cheap kites are okay, but a strong kite might help cut down on tears…just in case it breaks.
– Be sure to wear some sunscreen!
– Avoid trees!! Pick a nice open spot.
